Grease Wiki

Sorry to Distract is a song performed by Olivia Valdovinos in the Paramount+ original series, Grease: Rise of the Pink Ladies.

Overview[]

Olivia was sent to the principal's office by her history teacher Mr. Ford for her inappropriate outfit, even though Polly wore the same outfit in a different color. He claimed that Olivia didn't wear in "the same way" and that it was "distracting to the boys". Fed-up with the sexism, Olivia sang out her frustrations and brought up strong, famous female historical figures that made differences in the world.[1]

Lyrics[]

I didn't mean to cause a scene
Woah, woah, oh, oh
You can't stop your eyes wandering
Woah, woah, oh, oh
And I'm just simply existing
Woah, woah, oh, oh
But you can't handle my je ne sais quio, though, no

Oh, what a world
They got all this clout
But one little look rings their bell
Oh, what a world
It's somehow my fault
That boys cannot control themselves

Apologies on behalf
Of Eve and Cleopatra
Helen of Troy
And the ladies after
We've got the boys
Acting all bananas
Sorry, -orry, -orry, -orry
That we distract ya

Men keep the hold of control
Woah, woah, oh, oh
Presidents around the globe
Woah, woah, oh, oh
Got all of the nuclear codes
Woah, woah, oh, oh
But they can't handle decolletage, though, no

Oh, what a world
It's somehow my fault
That boys cannot control their cool
I'm pretty sure
As commander in chief
I'd follow 14 karat rules

Apologies on behalf
Of Eve and Cleopatra
Helen of Troy
And the ladies after
We've got the boys
Acting all bananas
Sorry, -orry, -orry, -orry
That we distract ya
Da, ba, de, da
Da-ah-ah, da, da, da-ah, da

Interesting how we give all the power
To the ones who play victim to their nature
Interesting how we give all the power
To the ones who can’t handle an hour
Keeping their belt buckles bucked

Apologies on behalf
Of Eve and Cleopatra
Helen of Troy
And the ladies after
We've got the boys
Acting all bananas
Sorry, -orry, -orry, -orry
That we distract ya
Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh
Sorry, -orry, -orry, -orry
That we distract ya
Da, dah-ah-ah, ba, ba, de, da, da-ah
Sorry, -orry, -orry, -orry
That we distract ya
