Grease Wiki

Hit Me Again is a song performed by Richie Valdovinos in the Paramount+ original series, Grease: Rise of the Pink Ladies.

Overview[]

Richie gambled away the T-Birds money and thought that an arranged fight between Shy Guy and another bruiser in the casino would win them back their money. Shy Guy didn't want to fight for Richie and refused, so the other party walked away. Richie tried to bribe them to come back with Potato's lucky dollar bill. Shy Guy told him he was acting like an asshole, and Richie insulted Shy Guy about the play. Angered, Gil sucker punched him, which started Richie's anger-fueled rock song where he egged on the T-Birds to fight him. Potato hit him and stole back the lucky dollar bill. Richie let out his anger issues and resentment against society. The song ended when he fell over a ledge, which is when he "got it out of his system" according to Gil.[1]

Lyrics[]

[(Speaking)]
Hit me!
Come on, hit me!
[(Singing)]
And hit me again

Ball your fist up
And pull it back
'Cause that first punch
Barely left a scratch

Little bit of action makes me feel all alive
Life threw thousand punches but I always survived
A black leather jacket compliments a black eye
The world was never made for me so why even try
Just hit me, hit me, hit me, hit me
Hit me, hit me, hit me, come on, hit me again

Oh, I won’t feel it
But if I do
It’s a feeling
That I’m used to

They tell me I got street smarts don’t bother to read
Your hands’ll do the work we don’t care if you bleed
On my side of town, no, nobody can leave
The only way out is if you’re sent over seas
So hit me, hit me, hit me, hit me
Hit me, hit me, hit me, come on, hit me again
Come on, hit me again
Ha!

What’s the point of trying
When the scales have been tipped
And everybody’s working
Just to dig their own ditch
I’ve been through it all
And I’ll go through it again
What’s the point of trying
When you don’t have a chance
So hit me again
